Introducing NanoAPI: Empowering Developers to Seamlessly Transition from Monoliths to Microservices

At ASIF Ventures, we are always on the lookout for promising startups that challenge the status quo. One such company is NanoAPI, a developer-focused platform revolutionizing how software is modernized. By simplifying the transition from monolithic codebases to microservices, NanoAPI is setting a new standard for efficient and scalable software development.

The Vision Behind NanoAPI: From a Late-Night Idea to a Developer Must-Have

NanoAPI was co-founded by Joel Milligan, Florian Bigot, and Justus van Mil, a dynamic team who saw a major gap in how software is modernized. Joel, originally from the US, has spent nearly a decade in software engineering, working at companies like Universal Studios and USAA. Florian, the CTO, comes from France and focuses on ensuring the product meets developers’ needs while gathering crucial customer insights. Justus keeps everything running smoothly, handling operations and sales.

The idea for NanoAPI first took shape during Joel’s master’s studies in Amsterdam. While researching ways to make software more energy-efficient, he and the team started speaking with developers and companies about their biggest challenges. Through extensive customer interviews, the team realized that while companies were not prioritizing energy efficiency, they were highly interested in modernizing their software to improve scalability and manageability. This discovery shifted NanoAPI’s value proposition to helping companies refactor their monolithic code into microservices—a crucial step for businesses looking to stay ahead in the digital era.

Their mission is to help developers understand, restructure, and modernize their codebases effortlessly. By automating code refactoring and optimizing software efficiency, NanoAPI is not only simplifying development workflows but also reducing energy consumption by up to 17%—a benefit that aligns with their long-term commitment to sustainability.

Fueling Growth with ASIF’s Investment

ASIF Ventures’ investment in NanoAPI provides the crucial runway needed to validate their use case. Since securing funding, the team has closed their first pilot, onboarded a new team member, and is laser-focused on executing their key performance indicators. Their rapid momentum reflects their ability to turn vision into action.

Beyond product development, NanoAPI has quickly built a thriving developer community, with:

  • 2,400+ followers on Dev.to

  • 300+ GitHub stars for their open-source platform

  • Four active open-source contributors just one month after launch

By fostering collaboration, NanoAPI is positioning itself as a must-have tool for developers, solidifying its reputation within the global tech landscape.

Looking Ahead

As NanoAPI continues to scale, their focus remains on product development and growing their enterprise collaborations. According to Justus, the team is aiming for their next round of funding while also seeking to collaborate with CTOs and solution architects at the enterprise level within Europe. Their vision for the near future is to build a stronger technical foundation in Europe and contribute to a more sustainable, innovative world.

With a clear roadmap, a passionate team, and an engaged developer community, NanoAPI is on track to become an industry leader in software modernization. ASIF Ventures is proud to support their journey, and we can’t wait to see how they continue shaping the future of software development.

Stay tuned for more updates as NanoAPI expands its reach and transforms the way developers approach code refactoring!
